“You can't just go shouting your mouth off like that!” screamed Hermione, outraged he had contacted her friends.
“Oh, like you can blame this all on me? If you had told the truth I wouldn't have even gone to see them,” Lucius yelled back, glaring at her.
“I don't have to tell you everything,” she spat, “and no good comes of it when I do anyway.”
“What's that supposed to mean?” Lucius narrowed his eyes at her.
“You can hear, can't you?” Hermione snapped at him. “You know, maybe we shouldn't even be together anymore. I don't even see a point.”
Lucius dug into his robes and found his wand, aiming it straight at Hermione. “Oh no you don't! I've put too much into this to lose you now!”
“Going to hex me, are you?” she laughed, “scared i'll tell your precious wife?”
“You leave Narcissa out of this.”
“Because you care so much about her, you don't want her to get hurt, is that it?” mocked Hermione.
“Look, just calm down,” he lowered his wand. “...I, I, I love you...”
Hermione was stunned and turned to face him, eyes open wide. There was silence for a few moments as they both took in what had just been said..
“I love you too, but, it's wrong – we can't keep cheating like this.”
“I'll tell Narcissa it's over, we haven't shared a bed in years anyway...”
Hermione sighed and shook her head. “It's not as simple as that.”
“But it could be...”
