All Right, I've Got To Ask...
Okay, so I've got to ask since this has been bugging me for a while now.

How is it that everyone in the world seems to have photoshop, and yet when I look up the price, it costs hundreds of pounds?

:S

Work bought mine. A nice perk of working from home :) (Technically, it's theirs, but since I don't plan on quitting any time soon, I use it for personal stuff too)

Well, first of all, I had PS Elements - I got it for Christmas when I was 13, because it "just" costed 100€ and was totally fine for a beginner like me. But then, I got "real" PS (CS3, and don't ask me how, I got a crack from a friend and I have no idea what I did to make it work xD) after using several test versions from the Adobe website. Anyway, a year or so later my computer died and I used all my saved money to buy a laptop - a Mac.
After I got my Mac I totally missed my PS, so I simply bought it (or better, my parents bought it and gave it to me for Christmas then), but the Student's Version. It's a lot cheaper than the non-student's version, though it still costs about 300€ (but Illustrator, Dreamweaver and lots of other programs are included). I had to give Adobe a proof that I was a student or pupil after I installed it, and since I am/was able to do so as a pupil (haha), everything was alright and I got it quite cheap :)

I use PS Elements, a really old version of it as well. Elements in my opinion is just as good as the other versions of PS; but not all the bells and whistles as they say.

I have been wondering the same thing! I have Corel Paint Shop Pro, and I love it and would never switch. It's like $80 here, so that' be, what, 60 pounds or less?

Yeah, around £50, which isn't actually bad! I'm currently using PSP8 and I like it, but there's not a whole lot it can do...

I'm convinced a lot of them lie about it, because they are shamed that they can't afford it and have to use something free or cheap.

Tbh, I managed to get lucky and my "free trial" of CS5 is glitched. I've been running on Day 0 of my 30 day free trial for, oh, the last five months or so? Each time I open it it just keeps telling me "You're on day 00 of 30" and it still lets me continue with the trial. /kanyeshrug

It is a very good question. I don't have it either, so you aren't alone. I use Picasa though. Granted, I don't do manips, but it works for all of my basic needs.

I always think the same about Sony Vegas for vids on youtube. Majority of users all proclaim to use Sony Vegas, even though it costs in excess of £300. And I'm thinking how are some of these 13 year old kids buying this?? I have found that there is a cheap sony vegas product called movie studio which you can buy between £40 to £80. So most people must be using that and only a few actually have the professional hundreds of pounds version.

I like trying my hands at things, if Photoshop was cheap I'd give it a go for the sake of it. I've tried to use Gimp before and I couldnt do it. I must have been doing it wrong lol :)
